I think if you get delivery your better off. Mid day slices are always as old as the day is young, I wouldn't recommend going in the late afternoon. The hotdog's are not really good. A fresh pie is probably the way to go.

Our hotel was right across the street so we figured we would get our Chicago style pizza fix there. We ordered the SMOG, which was delicious. Very happy with the pizza.

    Dudes, that pizza was pizza.

Best pizza in the neighborhood! Better than Morettis by far!

Love the thin crust. Pan and stuffed is OK but there are other places that specialize in those styles. Seriously though- cracker crisp crust, good sauce, good cheese. Very consistent though I feel like their pizza sizes are growing smaller... Drivers are pretty nice, as are the staff in the restaurant.

We stopped in after a long day of traveling and this is a nice, little, family-run restaurant. They were very accommodating to my family - we ordered a pizza, a couple dogs and a pasta dish. All very tasty. Also reasonably priced and they have great specials and a wide-ranging menu. The (who I believe to be) owner and other staff were super friendly. They seemed to be doing a good take-out business too. Would definitely return!

Pizza was ok... not great... a little too done... I had the Hawaiian pizza... all of the ham seemed to be in the middle... the staff was really nice! Maybe next time I will try a sandwich.

After reading some of the reviews on here, i decided to try this place for lunch. I must say that their customer service was excellent. The gentleman on the phone honored our orders for the italian beef special even though the coupon was clearly stated as "one per order." Delivery was fast - less than the time quoted on the phone. However, I was very disappointed by the italian beef. Had it not been for the hot peppers, the beef was very bland. This place is probably known for their pizzas, hence the name "Spuntino PIZZA!" I will definitely try their pizza next time. I will leave the Italian Beef for Portillo's or Suzi's :)

This place was a pleasant surprise for me after I've had a string of bad luck trying out new places. The pizza here is from the category I call "Normal thin crust", equivalent to a Rosati's or Home Run Inn. I would say not as good as Home Run Inn, but it may be because I bought by the slice (more on that later). I got the 2 slice deal which was not a bad value. The pizza was good and the crust was crispy. Cheese and sauce were good too. There are drawbacks with going the slice route. First of all, the pizza wasn't that warm. This is something they could have done better. If it had been warmed more, I'm sure it would've tasted even better. Secondly, with slices, you can't order customer toppings, so I had to stick with just cheese. Not sure if this is something they can really fix... although I do know some slice places that let you add some basic toppings; of course it would take longer to complete the order with this option.

I placed an order for the first time last week online. I was moving and ordered a number of pizzas, for my helpers for after the move. We really worked up an appetite and the pizzas were delish! The owner even called the day I placed the order to ask if I needed plates and napkins. What great personalized service I will definitely be ordering again, soon. The online ordering feature is fast and easy.

Ordered pizza from here last week. Great pizza. Quite possibly the best I've tried in Chicago. I will most definitely order from them again.

Every time I travel through Chicago I make it a point to get a pie. There are few meals that I will remember forever, but my stuffed pie from Spuntino's is on the list. The sauce was fan-freaking-tastic. Not the sweet-ish stuff I often see, this stuff was layered in lovely Italian spices. The toppings were fantastic and flavorful. As an added bonus, while my pie cooked I made small talk w/ the patrons. The owner (or manager?) came out and was well known to everyone. Nice guy. As a frame of reference, I stopped at Edwardo's Natural Pizza Restaurant (4-stars on Yelp) and found it to be a complete disappointment. Nice, but there was nothing flavorful about it. Edwardo's can't hold a candle to Spuntino's. Believe the reviews, this place has game.

The best pizza I've found that delivers to us. Nice thin crust and I like that they put the pepperoni on top of the cheese instead of under it. Wings are serviceable.

  • Ryan N.

First time eating here and surprised by the portions! I ordered two slices of pepperoni pizza and my wife a calzone, but it was enough food for four people. Wait time on our order was relatively long but that's because everything was made from scratch, fresh from the oven. I love when I can find pizza by the slice that's not some flimsy piece of cardboard. Definitely recommend this place, will be returning. Great service, great prices, great food!

We are from Boston, visiting Chicago, and eager to try a real Chicago Pie. I think we found it! Husband had a deep dish and I had what is here called a Panzerotti, which is called a Calzone in Boston. SO delicious, everything we ordered. The crusts were tender and aromatic of fresh bread as we opened the boxes. The fillings were substantial and delicious. Even the garden salads were great - huge, very fresh, with lots of cherry tomatoes and cukes. The staff we dealt with were patient and very friendly and got everything right. We found this place because we are staying in a hotel near O'Hare and looked on Yelp for places nearby that would deliver. Thank you Chicago Yelpers for steering us in the perfect direction.

I had a hot dog special which included a hot dog, fries and a drink for around $5, my friend had an Italian beef. My dog was ok, nothing about it really stood out but the fries brought me back to the fries of my childhood days. They were huge and crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside. I'd go back just for an order of them! Next time I want to try their pizza as I'm reading some good reviews about that. In short, good food, great prices and the nicest owners ever! Will definitely come back! :)

Awesome pizza. Terrific service. Great subs. Good prices. This is a pretty typical ma & pa kind of restaurant...kind of a hole in the wall. However, this is some good eats. My family and I get their delivery all the time, and even our pickiest eater loves the food. They've got the pizza fundamentals down: balanced crisp / soft crust, flavorful sauce, FRESH toppings - baked to perfection. One more point for emphasis: very friendly service. They are more than just polite, they make you feel appreciated for doing business with them. Go there or get delivery, just try this food!

I love this place. Pretty typical selection of menu offerings-- pizza, pastas, subs, and grill items-- but great, friendly service and delicious food. They have pretty schweet deals during the week (like $2 half-pound burgers) and always have a daily special related to pizza-by-the-slice or pizza puffs. Their pizza is great, and I highly recommend my personal favorite-- the margherita pizza w/ some pepperoni thrown on for good measure. Can't go wrong with a good hot dog or two, the burgers are large and delicious, and the babe that was on the cash register when I went in once turned me on to arancini-- fried and breaded rice balls, filled with mozzarella, meat sauce and peas, served with marinara. Oh SNAP were those things good... Dining in means great service and the chance to have a few beers while stuffing your face (they have a small cooler with a handful of beers to choose from). Like I said, the people working there are pretty friendly and usually have their big flat screen TV tuned in to whatever Chicago team is playing (though last time we went in, Rocky V was on and we made fun of it with the guy behind the counter until our food was ready). Spuntino is right across the street from the El and several hotels, and is popular among locals and O'Hare travelers alike. WAY better than D'Agostino's, which is down the street and SUPER crappy. Spuntino's is offering a whole bunch of party-size items for Super Bowl time, so check 'em out.

For a Chicago style thin crust pizza it's pretty damn good.

    (4)
  • Eduardo E.

My family loves their thin crust in an unnatural way. This is our weekly carryout pizza choice, despite it being on the other side of town. Just a good sauce and real cheese, with a crust that has a good crispness + dense chew factor. (FYI: I hate soggy, too-bready crusts, such as Dominos, which is way overpriced if you ask me). Also the Quality to Price ratio here is fantastic. So good and so cheap...which is great when you have teenage boys. Order the "Party Size", which comes in a long rectangle box. You'll have leftovers. And the staff and owner are really nice, which helps.

  • Gene X.

Ok dropped in here for a sub since I had eaten pizza for like 4 of my last 5 meals at that point in my trip and while the sub wasn't bad it was pretty standard stuff. The staff were pretty nice and it seemed like a chill spot and there really aren't many spots around this area. I'd definitely suggest eating here over Hooters nearby and from all the great pizza reviews I've seen, I think you might be better off getting pizza than a sub.

I would have to say Best Pizza we have had so far. Only tried the thin crust so far...light sauce. AMAZING! Panzerotti was good too. Also tried Anarcini (possibly spelled wrong) that were unbelievable (not that I have anything to compare them to) Tiny rice and cheese filled fried balls of yumminess. And they deliver.

  • Ted H.

The food is pretty good, but nothing exceptional. I give this place four stars because of the great prices, friendly owner, and excellent service. I order from here quite a bit.

Good thin crust pizza! 3rd best in PR, but very good. Sometimes crust thickness varies...but overall pretty damn good. Make sure you bring your coupon...if the owner rings you up, he eyes them up good!

Went there for dinner tonite, had the 2 dog combo & friend had italian beef. Their hot dogs rock and the spicy peppers are very nice too, my favorite dogs so far in chicago, being across the street from our cracktel (O'Hare Garden Hotel) is cool, look forward to trying their pizza tomorrow. Nice guys working there too, and very good prices compared to elsewhere

I took a large pizza home for dinner and it was very delicious. The sauce and the meat and the pizza turned out great. I'm planning to go there again for lunch.

YUM, YUM, YUM. I walk by this place twice a day and finally gave in to my cheeseburger craving...better than I expected. The cheeseburger was fresh + the onion rings were crispy and perfectly greasy. Plus, the guy who runs the place is quite friendly in that "I own this place and I love this place" kind of way. They said 10 minutes once I ordered, and my order was up right on time.

I live by here and drove by it all the time - always very curious. Tuesday was driving by and decided to go get an Italian Beef with Sweet Peppers. Under $5. All right - many other places have much more tender beef, but not bad. Good amount of beef, good sweet green peppers, and nice bread. Beef sandwich would probably get a rating of 3. I am giving 4 stars because I can't wait to try their pizzas! Huge variety and they sound great! Nice variety of sandwiches and I want to try the Texas Longhorn (Roast Beef) as a Panini! Good variety and guy taking orders was friendly and nice! I MUST go back very soon For menu: spuntinopizza.com 6/21/07 Update: Last night called and ordered Medium Veggie pizza but got Spinach instead of Green Peppers. I LOVE Spinach on pizza. Toppings were very fresh and used $2 off coupon from back of menu. The guy (owner?) joked and said $10 extra for substituting spinach....I said they are both green....he was obviously kidding. I brought some for lunch today at work and got stopped by a long freight train on the way. Was too tempted and had to have 3 pieces cold during it! So yes even good cold, which is a good test right? Pizza MUST be good cold! 07/17/07 Update - Onion Rings are terrific. I got some from another place - see other reviews - and hubby ordered from here. He got a double burger with onion rings and mozzerella sticks - both excellent!

We really like their pizza. Pretty gooey and good! Tried some of the other things on the menu and everything has been good so far! Forget about D'Agostinos down the street. This place is much better! Very small table area so we would only carry out from here. We live close by so that doesn't matter to us.

Man this business deserves 6 stars! Super fast delivery and way affordable pricing no minimum order either. I tried the Chicago dog and Italian beef sandwich with hot and sweet peppers was phenomenal. Delivered in about 15 min to my nearby hotel and I was in business. The Chicago dog was better than the one I had in Wrigley and was a great value my whole meal was less than $10 bucks and two bucks for delivery worth every penny. The peppers were spicy recommend you get a few beers to chase it down.

This place is about a half mile from us so was one of the first stops we made when we moved here. We have eaten here 3 times in our short month in the city and each time was a positive experience all around. We've had their chicken parm sandwich, their meatball sub and pepperoni pizza and sausage pizza. All have been very flavorful with generous portions and tasty sauce. Our favorite is the sausage pizza, the sausage is excellent and huge chunks. The staff here deserves a completely separate nod. Every time they have been extremely friendly and even gave my son and I free beverages while we waited for our take-out. A place we will frequent and not just because it's down the street, because it's well worth frequenting.

If you're looking for fancy, this may not be for you but if you are looking for delicious food then this is the place to go! The salad was fresh, the pizza delicious and the cannoli as good as any that I've had in Brooklyn. This is a little pizzeria with a nice staff and excellent Italian food. I was so glad we went there.

  • Matt S.

Good spot to grab some grub. It's an Italian place with pizza, pasta, Peroni, and more. They have pizza by the slice too. Burgers, hot dogs, and french fries can satisfy your American desires. Various beers are served and the soda fountain is RC Cola based! When was the last time you saw RC anywhere? That's right... pretty much nowhere. Prices are very reasonable for almost everything. Staff is friendly and helpful. They deliver should you feel too lazy to leave your house. It's a small place with a few tables but the neighborhood folk keep the place fairly busy. No bathrooms visible in the dining area so if you ask kindly they'll let you use the one in the back.

Ate here three time on my trip. They converted me to the Chicago-style hot dog. .

  • Patrick T.

Decent sauce and ingredients, but cardboard crust and equally "cardboard" service and delivery. Website is clunky for ordering online. We got the veggie pizza and I was ok with the ingredients and the sauce but the crust was dry and crumbly, and the temperature was barely above room temperature. Chicago is renown for pizza. Not your best option

My girlfriend and I stopped in here with my aunt. The restaurant is a little joint. It's not the best looking, but who really cares as long as the food is good? A bonus was that The Godfather Part II was on (Respect!). We were seated, and we were handed some menus. The person working there was friendly enough. We came here for the deep dish pizza, but when we ordered, we forgot to tell him deep dish. It didn't help that he didn't ask, but I blamed myself mostly. He also didn't ask my girlfriend and I what we wanted to drink, so we had to tag down someone later to ask. The pizza came out in 20-30 minutes. We ordered the trapanese with pineapple. It was thin crust unexpectedly, but we decided to eat it. It looked oily but good. It tasted good too, but there were a few drawbacks. The thin crust pizza was cut so that you could grab middle pieces with no crust handles. These pieces were the cheesiest and oiliest, so I couldn't handle these too much. Also, the pizza overall was just too oily. That wasn't too much to my liking. And later, I had some medium diarrhea as a result of the heavy oil and cheese. Also, the pizza was pretty expensive. It cost about $26 for one pizza. I dont remember the size, but it fed the two of us with a few slices leftover. So overall, the place was fine, the food was decent, the service was alright, but the food was too greasy to my liking and at too high of a cost.

Affordable prices, friendly staff, and good food! Delivery is fast too except when it's big sporting event (which is understsndable) ! Steak sandwich is awesome and so is their Salad Pizza! ;) Eric is always helpful and pleasant all around nice guy. Eric the manager is courteous and always helps us out with our school parties! Parents, kids, and staff Love the pizza.

All restaurants should have customer service like Spuntino. Went to pick up a pizza order and was told it would be a few minutes because they made a mistake. Was given a free beverage and a discount! Also, they lowered some menu prices recently.

I've ordered from here numerous times - can't believe I haven't reviewed it yet. We've tried their sandwiches (meatball), pizza, and arancini and everything was delicious. Their pizza is very cheesy, they put on a ton of ingredients, and the crust is crisp - not at all greasy. This has quickly become our go-to pizza. Quick tip - if you get one of their menus there are coupons on the back. We use on every time we order. We've always ordered carry out and the food has always been piping hot and ready when we got there. I'm looking forward to trying their beef soon.

This was my first time having Chicago style deep dish pizza, and it was amazing!! I ordered a 10" cheese pie. Wanted to be simple the first time around. Everything about the pizza was spot on. The sauce was just so delicious. There was the perfect amount of cheese on every slice-lots and lots of it (and even underneath the slices). The flavors of the sauce and cheese worked so well together. And the crust!!! Oh my, the crust...warm...flaky...dip it in some of that tomato sauce...heaven. I wanted to keep eating after my first slice, but I think that was enough artery clogging for the day. I wish they sold deep dish pizza by the slice. I was a bit misinformed by their website, which says they sell pizza by the slice...but that's only thin crust slices. Anyway, definitely give this place a try if you're in town and are looking to get your deep dish pizza on. Takes about 40ish minutes for them to make any deep dish pizza, btw, so plan your trip accordingly. Bon appetite!

A great little family run joint where you can have some great pizza, a beer, and watch the game. They make some really killer stuffed arancini balls!

I ordered dinner from here and I wasn't blown away, but I'd try them again. The delivery was prompt, the prices were reasonable and the food was good. The only problem was that the food arrived pretty cold, so I had to microwave it a bit. The pizza might arrive hot if they use those insulated bags. (This time I got a sandwich and cheese sticks.) Not bad at all but not the best, though I'll try them again!

  • Phon H.

This pizza is pretty average to me. I know Deep Dish is supposed to have a lot of cheese but I noticed this as too much because it's not that flavorful. Definitely not enough sauce for my taste either and except for the buttery, crispy end of the crust, the bread was way too doughy. The thin crust might be good for Chicago standards but is more like a half-thick Sicilian in my book. Also not enough sauce. The staff is nice but a bit laissez faire. I'm giving them 3 because my overall experience was pleasant enough but I'd try a different spot next time.

  • Martin A.

I ordered the XL SMOG (Sausage, mushroom, onion, green pepper) pizza for pickup. I normally like my pizzas either deep dish or super thin, but this pizza won me over! Perfect balance of toppings to crust, great crunch at the edges, ingredients evenly spread out to 1 cm from the edge. Fresh or reheated (in the toaster oven) this pizza was delicious. I would definitely eat there again. I thought the $30 after coupon, tax, and tip was a bit much, but it wasn't unreasonable and hey, they gotta feed their families more than pizza too.

  • Paulina C.

Just moved in to the neighborhood and looked to yelp for some sandwich recommendations. This place came up in the search. I called and had the pleasure of speaking with a delightful man. I wanted to feed our movers along with the family. The 3 foot Godfather sub sounded yummy. Let me tell you, it was delicious. The curly fries I added to the order were also wonderful. I will definitely order from there again... And again... And again

Great deep dish pizza. Nice, clean little mom and pop place. Friendly service. Only wish it were closer to home.

Stale buns for their hot dogs, all other food was nothing to write home about. There are plenty of places like this around, go elsewhere, do not waste your money here.

  • Chukki S.

Had the sausage and beef combo thing. Basically it's a hot dog with roast beef on it. It was decent. Also tried one of the meatballs. Those were good. The building is a bit of a dump. It's tiny, cramped and I was told the bathroom was very scary. Still, the prices are good and it's a close place to grab food if you're staying at one of the nearby hotels.

    (3)
  • Nick N.

The pizza is really good... so are the sandwiches! Friendly staff and clean little dining area. Prices are a little high, but it's well worth it!

So as of lately I've been having a lot of their take out pizza because a relative is crazy about their pizza pies. Sauce is savory, not sweet. They overdo it on olives, so if you're crazy about them, it might be worth it for you to try it. Their pizza is pretty average to me and their other offerings just okay.

I will say that the only reason I gave this place three stars is because it is right down the block from where I live. If it was further, it would get two stars. I think that the place has OK food at best and only if you order it there and pick it up there. When I ordered it to pick up, I more often then not had to give it back because it was cold and I was early to pick it up! I would not recommend it even if you live close to it.

    (3)

Pizza was awesome. Service was awesome. Even delivered it further than normal just for us. Will be ordering from them next time we are in town.

  • Jessica A.

Pizza was amazing! Only reason why I don't give them 5 stars: I asked to use the restroom and walked through the kitchen to get there, both the kitchen and bathroom were very dirty. Scared the crap out of me.

We have had a large sized veggie pizza with peperoni on it and it was really good. Also very friendly staff there.

Great pizza, toasted ravioli to die for! Near many hotels, the donald stephens convention center, o'hare airport. Low budget and very tasty!
